A fresh start!
Well well well. Here we are at the fresh beginning of a brand new blog. A cosblog, if you will; a blog about costuming/cosplay! Up til now, I have been keeping a record of my costuming adventures over on my Livejournal. While I will continue to post there under my "costuming and cosplay" friends filter, I decided it would also be a good idea to create a blog here so that I can easily keep track of all of my costuming posts, and they aren't mixed in with other things. To get started, I'll just share a little background about my costuming history and such.
I have loved costumes for as long as I can remember. I won my first ever Halloween costume contest at the ripe old age of five with a Minnie Mouse costume created by my favorite seamstress, my mom. I was lucky enough to never be one of the kids who wore a store-bought Halloween costume. Oh no, everything was made from scratch on the sewing machine that I, nostalgically enough, now own and use for my own costuming needs. As an adult costumer in my own right, I began costuming seriously back in 2003, when I did my first ever cosplay of Sir Integra Hellsing from the anime Hellsing. Let's just say that my first dabbling in costuming on my own, without the help of Mom, was pretty shabby. Really shabby in fact. I'm so embarrassed of it, I don't even have any pictures of it anymore. Okay, that's enough self-bashing, but yeah... it was bad. I should find some pics, just so you can see the progress I've made! I have cosplayed Integra twice since that first costume, and have completely redone her both times. I have been most satisfied with the latest edition, but more about that later. Other costumes I have created include a random paper boy from "The Newsies," Slutty Schoolgirl Integra, my Gaia Online avatar, Military Uniform Integra, Dr. Ritsuko Akagi from Evangelion, and most recently Art Museum Integra from Volume II of the manga and Order 8 of the original anime. I currently have a newer and fresher Manga Version Inty in the works, as well as my Halloween costumes for 2006, Julia from 1984 and Medb from Celtic mythology. Finally, I am working on a project for Animazement (May 2007), Blood!Seras, from Hellsing.
