New cosplay plans and Halloween report.

New Cosplay Plans:

- Integra Variations -

1930's Gangster Inty: Somewhat inspired by LackadaisyCats.com. Aaand... I've just always liked the clothing styles of the 30's and gangsters are awesome. My dad has a 1939 Plymouth car... and I was just thinking how much fun a photoshoot would be with it...
Victorian Era Inty (male clothing): Because Integra cosplay + dressing like Charles Dickens = awesome.
Sari Integra: Just a question for the Hellsingers on my flist... has it actually ever been confirmed that her mother was Indian? I know that's the accepted fan history... but I've never seen it confirmed by Hirano anywhere... in any case... I love saris and I thought it would be fun to dress her in one.
Vatican Integra: This one was definitely inspired by Sin's Millenniumgra. I hope you don't think badly of me for using you for inspiration, Mish... I would never presume to steal your own personal touches... But your ideas inspire me sometimes. <3

Good grief, this fictional character is becoming my fandom-based Barbie doll or something. How silly. xDDD

- Other Cosplays/Costumes -

Bloody Seras: Hopefully I can start on her over Christmas break... I want to have her ready in time for Animazement.
Kahterina: I named my Halloween costume. xD I wrote up a little character history for her, because that just makes it more fun for me. She's that purple vampire thing I wore for the Halloween Masquerade. I want to add to the shadow familiar, Great Stuf the front side just like the back, and maybe add some purple or silver detailing to it.
Red Alucard (female): I've sort of always wanted to cosplay Alucard... but I want to do something different... so I was thinking... I could do a female version, and dress up the red coat into a sort of coat/dress combo... get a red ladies hat... xD It could be fun.

Steal my cosplay ideas and you DIE TEN THOUSAND PAINFUL DEATHS. x3 <3333333

Post-Halloween Report:

Well I haven't posted here in a LONG time, so I thought I would just recap the Halloween event. I had the great pleasure of attending the C.A.S.T Halloween Masquerade put on by the Pagan and alternative religion league in Charleston. I wore an original character that I have since named Kahterina, a Jrock-esque vampire. She's pretty fun, and I like her a lot. I still haven't got all the photos from my friends, so I'll share just a couple of mediocre shots I have.

That's all for now!

Julia Update.

Well, my overalls finally came. And they're about 2 inches too short, as well as too big and frumpy. Fan-frickin-tastic.

I guess they'll just have to suffice, eh? Still not sure about what shirt I want to wear... maybe something long sleeved and red? I don't think the black shirt looks good with the black overalls. I have shoes, seen here, and I am still waiting for my Ingsoc patch. Hope it comes in time. Maybe I can take the overalls to The Dressing Room and see if they'll alter them for me... I don't know what they can do about the length of the legs, but at least maybe they can fit the middle a bit so it isn't so bulky. I'm wearing bright red lipstick and lots of eye makeup, as well as red nail polish, and I'll be carrying my sign (ahem, which is still not done. *slack*)

Honestly I've been working too much to have time for any costuming stuff lately. I've been helping other people with their own!

I think I have an idea for something to wear to the masque. It involves a big purple wig from Hokus and a corset. Teehee. Costume contest ftw!

I might shop around for some other overalls, and just see what is available in town... cause I don't know about these. The quality of the material is great, they just don't fit right.

I tweaked my fangs a little more last night, ground the tops off so they aren't so squared at the gumline. I think they look a little better now.

That's about it. Not working on Inty much lately... she needs a visit to the seamstress and the dry cleaners. Hoo. I might wear ArtMuseum!Inty one day around Halloween, just for kicks. Wish I had and Alucard to drag around... Boo, no love for me.

That's about all for now.

Manga Inty, Secret idea for future

I'm getting this cross pin for Manga Inty. Maybe some other jewelry too. I just feel like she needs some personal artistic license, and general sprucing up. Still annoyed about my suit.

Other things to get/do:

- leather gloves (when I have the moneys)
- red stud earrings, (maybe pearl-esque? not crystal)
- shoes (omigawd, shoes. let's get some shoes. lol.)
- red ascot
- blue contacts (my grey eyes irritate me in pics)

In other news, I have a secret costume idea in mind. You can be sure that I will share it once I have actually begun work on it. I can't have anyone stealing my ideas, eh?

NOT happy. Manga Inty.

I just got my new suit for Manga Integra today. Wtf. It's covered in white cat/dog hair and the jacket is WAY too big. MORLUNA IS NOT HAPPY. FEAR HER COSPLAY WRATH.

Dammit.

I guess I can get the jacket altered... and I'll have the whole thing dry cleaned. This is my first ever neutral Ebay feedback. Bleh.

The pants fit great... I guess that's the upside? IT'D BE NICE IF THEY WEREN'T COATED IN ANIMAL HAIR. UGH BASTARDS.

Fang work, this week's plans

I tried to tweak (revamp... if you will... LOL @ BAD JOKES) my fangs last night. I had some luck with the right one but the left one is still really loose and they both still look a little big on my teeth. I talked with some people who have used them before and they suggest playing with them a bit more, but I may need a different brand. I'm using Scarecrows and Danny tells me that he's known people who found those to be too large and used Dracula brand instead. I may have to invest in another pair to get them just right. Suck. I still plan to buff the tops of them and see if I can get them to fit better, before completely scrapping them altogether.

I don't plan to do a lot this week costuming-wise because it's the middle of the semester and I'm working about 20 hours a week at Hokus in addition to that... but by next week I would like to at least have my propaganda sign finished for Julia.

Seras fangs and Julia progress shots

.::. SERAS .::.

I fucking LOVE them. I'm wearing them right now. I learned a new skill while shaping these to my teeth. I learned how to open a pill caplet. Lol. That's easier said than done with one hand, guys. Like so many things... Hah. Anyway, I intend to tweak them a bit more by shaving some of the material off the top front part of the tooth. They jut up into my gums too much and look weird.

lolpheonixpose

I apologize for the bad picture quality. I have a crappy cameraphone to work with.

My black overalls still haven't arrived from the Ebayer, so I used some black clothing to do it impromptu. Basically I just wanted a chance to show off my red sash.

The Ingsoc badge I ordered for her. *squee of delight* Depending on how big it is (not sure) I think I'm going to put it on my bum pocket. xB

This was my first attempt at painting the Anti-Sex League propoganda sign. I may just redo it completely, because it came out crap. My technique of random brush strokes did not work well at producing block letters at all. This is what happens when you try to work on costume projects at 2am kids.

AWA 12 pictures - Hellsing photoshoot w/Art Museum Inty

I've posted these all over the net by now, but it can't hurt to list them here as well.

I'll just link to Eurobeat King's Gallery. The Hellsing shoot is on pages 19-22.

A fresh start!

Well well well. Here we are at the fresh beginning of a brand new blog. A cosblog, if you will; a blog about costuming/cosplay! Up til now, I have been keeping a record of my costuming adventures over on my Livejournal. While I will continue to post there under my "costuming and cosplay" friends filter, I decided it would also be a good idea to create a blog here so that I can easily keep track of all of my costuming posts, and they aren't mixed in with other things. To get started, I'll just share a little background about my costuming history and such.

I have loved costumes for as long as I can remember. I won my first ever Halloween costume contest at the ripe old age of five with a Minnie Mouse costume created by my favorite seamstress, my mom. I was lucky enough to never be one of the kids who wore a store-bought Halloween costume. Oh no, everything was made from scratch on the sewing machine that I, nostalgically enough, now own and use for my own costuming needs. As an adult costumer in my own right, I began costuming seriously back in 2003, when I did my first ever cosplay of Sir Integra Hellsing from the anime Hellsing. Let's just say that my first dabbling in costuming on my own, without the help of Mom, was pretty shabby. Really shabby in fact. I'm so embarrassed of it, I don't even have any pictures of it anymore. Okay, that's enough self-bashing, but yeah... it was bad. I should find some pics, just so you can see the progress I've made! I have cosplayed Integra twice since that first costume, and have completely redone her both times. I have been most satisfied with the latest edition, but more about that later. Other costumes I have created include a random paper boy from "The Newsies," Slutty Schoolgirl Integra, my Gaia Online avatar, Military Uniform Integra, Dr. Ritsuko Akagi from Evangelion, and most recently Art Museum Integra from Volume II of the manga and Order 8 of the original anime. I currently have a newer and fresher Manga Version Inty in the works, as well as my Halloween costumes for 2006, Julia from 1984 and Medb from Celtic mythology. Finally, I am working on a project for Animazement (May 2007), Blood!Seras, from Hellsing.
